The short version
- You can play without signing in. Guests give us no name, email or contact details.
- We store your game progress and a record of your rounds so your progress is saved and the daily ranking works.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google, we also store the email address (and, from Google, your name and profile photo link) they share with us.
- Minis shows no ads today, and uses no advertising IDs, third-party analytics or tracking. We never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and all its data from inside the app at any time: Profile → Delete account.
1. Who we are
Minis (“the app”) is made by Ivan Soto (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at info@byrobots.com.
2. What we collect
When you play as a guest
The first time you play, the app creates an anonymous account for you: a random identifier with no name, email or other contact details attached. It's what lets your progress be saved. Guests are also given a randomly generated display name (like “Brave Otter”) for the daily ranking.
If you sign in with Apple or Google
Signing in is optional. If you do, we receive from Apple or Google:
- an account identifier for your Apple or Google account;
- your email address. With Apple's “Hide My Email”, this is a private relay address and not your real one;
- from Google, your name and a link to your Google profile photo.
We never see your Apple or Google password.
Game data
- Progress: your points, streak and level in each game.
- Rounds played: for each round, the game, the result (solved, out of time, out of lives, skipped or left), points earned, time taken, mistakes, the difficulty level, the puzzle that was generated and game details such as the words you found.
- Display name: the name shown on the daily ranking.
- App details: the app version and that you're on iOS.
Technical data
Like any internet service, our hosting providers receive your IP address and keep short-lived server logs when the app connects to them. We use these only to run and secure the service.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifier, device identifiers, health or financial information. Today the app has no ads, no in-app purchases, and no third-party analytics or tracking tools. If that changes, see section 10.
3. How we use it
- to save your progress and restore it when you sign in on another device;
- to show the daily ranking;
- to tune the games: for example, to see which levels are too hard or which games get skipped;
- to keep the service secure and working, and to answer you if you contact us.
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on performing our agreement with you (providing the game and saving your progress) and on our legitimate interest in improving and securing the game.
4. Who can see it
Other players see your display name and today's points on the daily ranking. For signed-in accounts, the name is shortened to your first name and last initial; guests show their generated name. No email addresses or photos are shown to other players.
Service providers process data for us, only to run the app:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in: stores your account, progress and rounds | United States |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, if you use it | Apple's servers |
| Sign in with Google, if you use it; your profile photo is loaded from Google | Google's servers | |
| Netlify | Hosting this website | Global network |
We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
5. Where it's stored
Your data is stored in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under U.S. law. If you live elsewhere, including in Canada, it's transferred there, with the safeguards our providers offer for international transfers (such as the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses).
On your phone, the app keeps a copy of your progress and your sign-in session (in the iOS Keychain), so you can keep playing offline.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, progress, rounds and ranking entries are deleted from our database straight away; copies in our providers' backups and logs expire on their own, normally within 30 days. We may delete guest accounts that haven't been used for a long time.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Profile → Delete account. This works for guests too. If you can't use the app, see how to request deletion.
- Sign out: Profile → Log out.
- Stop using Sign in with Apple or Google: in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Sign in with Apple, or in your Google Account's “Third-party apps” settings.
- Access, correction, a copy of your data, or objection: email us. Depending on where you live (for example under Canada's PIPEDA, British Columbia's PIPA, the GDPR, UK GDPR or California law), you may have these rights and the right to complain to your privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We'll answer within 30 days.
8. Children
Minis is suitable for all ages, but it isn't directed at children under 13, and signing in is meant for people 13 or older (or the age of digital consent where you live). Children can play as guests, which needs no personal information. If you believe a child has signed in and given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each account can only read and change its own data, and our access keys are never shipped inside the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app.
Ads. Minis is free, and we may add ads in a future version to support it. Before any ads appear, we'll update this policy to name the ad provider and what it collects, update the app's App Store privacy details, and ask for your permission where the law or Apple requires it (for example, before personalized ads or tracking).
